Bee's Knees Lacquer - The Original Unicorn Pee Group Customs
Welcome back to another blog post featuring some eye-catching nail polishes coming out from Bee's Knees Lacquer! There are quite a lot of polishes to show so I'll keep the chatter brief, buuuuut, these polishes are based on Harry Potter! I am so excited about that!! The names are based on wand cores, which come from fantastic beasts, so they may ring a bell, but even if you're not a Potterhead, anyone can enjoy beautiful polish!
*Polishes provided as press samples for review*
These polishes are customs for a FB group - The OG UP - the sale will be from 9/22 to 10/1, available through a secret link in the group. If you've seen previous BKL unicorn pee polishes, I've blogged them not long ago, there was an undie promotion going on to help offset the cost of the polishes. It's been a really popular promo and Sarah will be offering it for this collection for the whole duration of the sale. There are 9 polishes, but it was deemed that 3 of them are sufficient without undies, so I'll show them off first. I have the slider feature here to cut down on the length of the blog post, please use the arrows to view more pics!
**UPDATE: It has been announced that this collection will be making a return on 12/1/18 but quantities are limited, so get your ninja fingers ready!!**
Thestral Hair-a smoky black with OG UP. $18; for my pictures I used 3 thin coats and top coat, application on all of them is great without any concerns
White River Monster Spine-an aqua with blue to green sibling UP. $15; again, this is 3 easy coats, and the color is so so gorgeous! The complementary green flash in it is definitely well paired, and the blue flashes made me go "oooooo me likey"! Aquas are always a favorite of mine :)
Now we're going to jump into the polishes with matching undies. I've taken this kind of bottle shot for the previous releases and it's been really fun, so I did it for these as well! It's it just stunning?? Another surprise for me was that the top 3 are jellies, while the bottom 3 are more creamy.
I started off with the creamy bases - please click through the slider to see the base colors alone, I included 1 picture for each set, and every one of the bases was applied in 2 coats. Since the promo is in place and everyone purchasing a UP polish will get the undie, I wanted to show what it would look like worn solo, rather than only have the layered ones shown.
Unicorn Hair-an icy lilac with OG UP. $18 and will come with the matching undie for free; 2 coats of the cream base + 1 coat of UP
Jackelope Antler-a raisin with OG UP. $18 and will come with the matching undie for free; 2 coats of the cream base + 1 coat of UP
Thunderbird Feather-a spicy brown mustard with OG UP. $18 and will come with matching undie for free; 2 coats of the cream base + 1 coat of UP. Fun fact - this is my first mustard color! I was fascinated by this at first peek and I'm glad to own it now, I think it definitely has a place in the fall color palette
Basilisk Horn-a deep hunter green jelly with OG UP. $18 and will come with the matching undie for free; 2 coats of the jelly base + 1 coat of UP
Dragon Heartstring-a deep burgundy with blue to green sibling UP. $15 and will come with the matching undie for free. 2 coats of the jelly base + 1 coat of UP; this was like "whoa!! it's like blood red!!" in the bottle it appears really dark, like oxblood, but on the first coat of the jelly base, it was fresh crimson
Boomslang Venom-a bright cobalt with OG UP. $18 and will come with the matching undie for free. 2 coats of the jelly base + 1 coat of UP
I hope you've enjoyed the swatches and they'll help you make decisions! I don't know how secret it is, but I think the Harry Potter Funko Pop may sort of be a giveaway that I'm a Potterhead! I was so thrilled and honored to swatch these!! I even went to Pottermore to see what my own wand core is - it's unicorn hair!
