It's been a little while since I've just done nail art, and I had the perfect plates, prompt and inspiration! So let's take a peek at how this was put together!

Hello and welcome to yet another blog post! Sorry that I've been quiet this week, I've been working on getting some polished swatched and ready to show, so I've had a few things up on Instagram, but it's time to tie them all in. And here it is!

#31DC2016Weekly: Orange - Japanese Koi

Welcome to the second installment of #31DC2016Weekly, this week's prompt is Orange! It's not a well favored color for many, and I typically shy away from it, but this time I had an idea in mind!

It's not mermaid scales this time, it's koi scales!

Swatch & Art: Nvr Enuff Polish - Festivus

A little while ago there were a lot of Harry Potter nail designs done as tribute to Alan Rickman. One of my favorite indie brands - Nvr Enuff Polish - brought back their retired Harry Potter collections and offered them again, but unfortunately I was not able to buy them. I still wanted to do HP nails, and fortunately I have a bottle of Festivus, which I thought would be fitting to use, as it's a beautiful emerald green.

Festivus was created for the Hella Holo Customs group on FB a few months ago, so unfortunately it's not available for sale anymore, unless you get lucky and someone's parting with their bottle within the group.

Stamping Saturday: Mermaid Scales

Stamping Saturday is here once again and today I decided to return to a gradient manicure. I'm happy that my nails have grown this long without breaking, so I wanted to take advantage of that and try a 4 color gradient. As we're packing more seriously now for our move next week, I feel like I'd better shorten them down before a casualty occurs and I'll be left with nubs!
My color choices for the gradient are blue-ish and that determined my stamp - mermaid scales!

30 Days of Colour (May): Holo/Water Marble

I've got lots of holo nail polishes but water marble skills are lacking...heh...that's when stamping comes in handy! Hehe 37 and 40 make a faux water marble with no mess :D

Red, White and Blue - Memorial Day

I just wanted to share my mani for Memorial Day - unfortunately no sunshine  to show off the holo, but this is such a patriotic color combo that it works well even without the special effect holo would add. Red, White and Blue!

StampingSaturday: Minty Mermaid Scales

For this Stamping Saturday my inspiration came from a bar of soap! It had such simple and cute packaging, it's too bad I didn't snap a pic of it - I always file stuff away in my memory "to do a mani like this later" and sometimes I actually remember!

NYC Rule the City & Stamping

NYC has a new limited edition collection called Fashion Queen - and this is one of the Crystal Couture polishes called Rule the City. It's a unique color to my collection but it slightly reminds me of an indie I picked up a while ago that has a similar thing going on - gray and bright glitters of color. Maybe I'll do a mani using each and see if they're anything alike!

This is my attempt to better show the color under the stamping. And of course it's a better closeup of the tip wear I've got going on, lol. I used Sinful Colors Casablanca for stamping, and one of my new plates from the HeHe collection (which I swatched here). I totally thought I'd use the swirls from plate 015 in a blue ocean-y mani, but here it is, fitting in nicely with this color scheme :)

New Stamping Plates: HeHe & Qgirl

I'm very excited to be adding these plates to my collection, they're so cute! And the packaging is adorable!

I ordered these through a group buy, so I don't have the whole sets for these, but only the plates I really wanted.
