Tonic Polish - Black Lives Matter: Donation Trio
Welcome to another blog post featuring upcoming releases from Tonic Polish! Launch day is 10/10, so we're almost there! Let's take a look at the swatches as well as bonus layering combos!
*Polishes provided as press samples for review*
I split up the blog posts covering the fall launches - please see Tonic Fall 2020 Capsule, as some of those polishes are featured here for layering purposes.
Black Lives Matter - Donation Trio: colors developed with the help of La Tannya Murphy and Krystal Moore. La Tannya and Krystal suggested the Harvey African American Flag as inspiration for the trio. https://fotw.info/flags/us_ aahv.html
50% of the price of each bottle sold from October 10-November 10, 2020 will be donated to an organization that will be chosen with the assistance of La Tannya.
#BLM - an Inky blackened base packed with super shiny, sparkly, iridescent gold-green-teal-cerulean shifting shimmer; $13
Swatches show 2 coats + glossy top coat
To add a little sparkle, try layering Crush (from the Tonic Fall Capsule)
Social Injustice - a matte-drying polish packed with red-orange-gold shifting multichrome flakes and microflakes and a sprinkling of green-blue-purple-fuchsia-gold shifting multichrome flakes that can be worn as a topper or a stand-alone color in as little as 2 or 3 coats! Looks incredible over #BLM and Shine a Light. The matte finish is velvety smooth, but this color also looks great with a coat of shiny Tonic Topper top coat; $13
*TONIC TIP*: Try adding a layer of Tonic Topper between your second-to-last and last coats to prolong wear time and still keep the matte finish!
Swatches show 3 coats alone with the natural matte finish
It's fun to play with the matte and glossy effects - you can just layer them until you decide which way you like the polish better!
Now let's combine what we've seen so far...into a combo I enjoyed quite a lot!!
Social Injustice sponged (somewhat randomly) over #BLM without covering the base color fully. I did add a matte top coat over the whole thing.
Shine a Light - a jellied warm lemon yellow packed with super shiny, sparkly, iridescent gold-green-aqua shifting shimmer. Looks great in two easy coats, but you may need more if you want to fully cover your VNL, or you can use one of Tonic's base coats to add opacity. May cause some yellowing of your nail which can also be prevented with a base coat; $13
Swatches show 2 coats + glossy top coat; I did have a little VNL visible but it was mostly under lamps while taking pictures, the shimmer is really strong in the polish so it does a good job of masking the nail lines
And one final layering suggestion - Social Injustice over Shine a Light! I once again sponged on the tips for a very fall looking combo
And a layer of matte top coat, just to see...
These are releasing Saturday - October 10th! Tonic Polish
Take a look at the Tonic Fall 2020 Capsule if you haven't yet, as there is a total of 7 polishes releasing!
These are gorgeous. Love the combinations :-D
