Bee's Knees Lacquer - Indie Expo Canada 2018
Hello & Welcome! I'm super excited to be sharing swatches with you guys - even more so because I've got polishes that will be debuting at the upcoming Indie Expo Canada, which will take place in Toronto this weekend - June 9th & 10th. I've got the goodies that Bee's Knees Lacquer will be bringing, let's take a look!
*Polishes provided as press samples for review*
This trio of polishes are event limited editions (LE)- so the first opportunity to pick them up will be in person at Indie Expo Canada (IEC). And if the majority of you are like me, wishing we could go to Toronto to experience this awesome weekend, then fear now! The LEs will come back for sale in July and you can shop online! Sarah of Bee's Knees Lacquer has cooked up a lot of pretties so you'll want to pick up a few things anyway, I'm sure of that! For starters, forgive my mismatched macros here..I was just trying to get close up pics to show the bounty of the polish and only belatedly realized I should have been aiming a bit better for identical poses. One of these days I'll get there, but for now, this is what I ended up with..this is a trio based on Supernatural (the show)!
The Rise of Dick - inspired by the Leviathan Dick Roman, this is a black polish with green to gold and red aurora shimmer, scattered holo, and iridescent flakes that shimmer pink and green
I applied 2 coats for my swatches & top coat - no issues with application or leveling, the flakies don't poke out, and this is basically a black rainbow! I kept ooohing as I painted my nails - black and holo is an awesome combo!
The next one is a unique color and a magnetic!
Ghoul Got Your Tongue? - a graveyard green polish with two types of magnetic microflakes that shimmer to pink/gold/green/purple as well as some gold to orange to purple iridescent flakes - apply a magnet to your last coat to see the magnetic microflakes shine!
I spaced out on this one and applied 2 coats before I glanced at the description and saw that it's magnetic - so in my swatches I have 3 coats on - the third one had the magnet applied to it in a diagonal line - and you can actually see that what got magnetized are microflakes! The more Bee's Knees polishes I try, the more I'm convinced that flakies are everything and Sarah is super generous to fill all these polishes with so much flakes <3
And the last one was a surprise for me..
Sparkle on Her Face - inspired by Sparkle the Man-icorn, this is a sheer nude full of red to gold aurora shimmer and three types of multichrome holo flakes: gold to red, purple to blue to green, and green to gold
Just 2 swatches of this and I got full opacity & top coat for shine
The surprise was how much I liked wearing this color! It's got a reddish gold shimmer, which isn't in my comfort zone, and my secret fear...multichrome flakes. I don't know why, but something about them makes me pause. Well, I didn't have a choice here which is actually a good thing, because now I got to try this type of polish and love it! The flakes add so much colors to the polish, it's like a blended up rainbow :)
I feel like fans of Supernatural will like these polishes a lot, I know I personally enjoy when a polish is named for something I'm into! I'm still a baby when it comes to Supernatural though - hubby talked me into finally watching the show but it's slow going and we're only on season 4 - and I suspect these polishes will mean even more to me once I'm up to speed and recognize the inspirations!
Remember, these polishes release at IEC, so unless you're attending or have a polish fairy, you'll have to hang on tight to snag them in July - start making your wishlist!
Can you do comparison swatches of The Rise of Dick vs Tonic Polish's Event Horizon? I've been hunting EH without success and I wonder if this isn't a pretty decent dupe.. 🤔
