Bee's Knees Lacquer - A Court of Thorns and Roses; Part 1

Bee's Knees Lacquer - A Court of Thorns and Roses; Part 1

Hello there! I've got quite a number of polishes to share today so I'll be keeping the chatter brief. I've got the first part of a new collection coming from Bee's Knees Lacquer - it's inspired by The Court of Thorns and Roses series!

*Polishes provided as press sample for review*
If you're lucky to be attending Indie Expo Canada this weekend in Toronto - you'll get to see this collection revealed! But for everyone else, we've got to hang on tight till 6/22 when this will be launched online, it's not that far off!

There are two magnetic polishes in the first part, so let's start with those! Use the arrows on the slides to navigate through the pictures - there's 4 per polish.

Band of Exiles - inspired by Lucien's character, this is a magnetic polish; it has orange to green aurora base with orange/gold/red iridescent flakes and a green to purple magnetic shimmer when a magnet is applied; can be worn alone or over a black base (like the new black cream, Void, that's in part 2 of this collection)

For my swatches I applied 2 straight coats on to my pinkie and ring finger, and I applied the magnet for effect on the middle two nails, top coat for all! It's sparkly and complex, whichever way you choose to wear this! I kept getting the impression that this is like molten pyrite, if that even makes sense, but definitely foil-like and metallic.

I Will Find You in the Next World - inspired by Cassian, this is a magnetic polish with opalescent shimmer and magnetic microflakes that shimmer green/gold/copper/orange

Same application with this polish - 2 coats on all fingers, but magnetized only the middle two & top coat. I'm honestly torn which version I like more - while applying the polish, I would say I definitely like it on its own, but once I got the magnetic effect, I was kind of digging the cat eye look there from the straight line magnet. I really really like the opalescent shimmer effect though, I think it's one of my favorite ingredients from Bee's Knees!

The Attor - inspired by the nightmarish creatures from the series, this is an indigo base with green aurora shimmer, scattered holo, and iridescent flakes that flash pink/gold/green

This one honestly surprised me! This was the only one I found to be of a more jelly-like finish, and thereby more on the sheer side - I used 3 this coats & top coat. The benefit of that is that the aurora shimmer really gets a chance to shine, or, shimmer, in this case lol. I got the impression that the green shimmer was so strong it affected the polish color, or maybe that's just how my eyes perceived it, but it looked more taupe/mushroomy to me, rather unique! In some lights the flakes stood out in a very vivid metallic pink and contrasted nicely. Let's just say this is a chameleon type of polish!

The Weaver of the Woods - inspired by the ancient Stryga, this is a puggly chartreuse full of iridescent flakes that flash orange/gold/red and gold/green

This is a creme based polish- just 2 easy coats for full opacity & top coat as usual. Now, I know chartreuse isn't everyone's cup of tea, but (I'm really grateful to be supplied a word here!) "puggly" is definitely the right category! It's that pretty/ugly blend that is a niche for some people. I'm actually happy to see it, Bee's Knees is really catering to every preference! My favorite part of this polish is the flakes - the read as gold to my eyes, and there's a sprinkle of green shimmer here too, so if this is your kind of color, grab it!

The Dreams That are Answered - a very pale grey polish full of teal to blue aurora shimmer, scattered holo, and gold/green and teal/blue iridescent flakes

I would say this is a crelly type, but it's so packed with shimmer and flake that I only applied 2 coats when swatching! I tested it as a topper over black (not on my nails, on a mat, so no pics) and the shimmer payoff is so strong that it basically just covers up the base. Which means it's awesome worn alone! It totally had an ethereal pearlescent look, but I realized this set of pics is darker than others - I likely would have just gotten white blurs from how my lamps are set up! So they're a tad darker but the shimmer and flakes definitely stand out during normal wear, this isn't something you have to squint to see.

A Whisper of Darkness Between the Stars - inspired by the shadowsinger Azriel, this is a steel blue polish with holo (like stars) and gold/orange/green iridescent flakes

This is another crelly type that I applied in 2 coats & top coat. I haven't picked a top favorite from these polishes, but this one is definitely among them. I loved everything from the color to how packed it is with flakes to the subtle holo! I think it's a great color for fall - dark stormy skies with scattered multi colored leaves!

A Better Strength - inspired by Elain, this is a lavender polish full of opalescent shimmer and iridescent flakes that make it glow with an inner fire

This was another 2 coater for me - it's a very delicate color with a lot of bling! That opalescent shimmer is so mesmerizing! I can't get enough of it in these polishes and Sarah isn't stingy when it comes to filling her bottles with everything beautiful and sparkly!

And this wraps up part 1 of the collection - I'll get part 2 posted in a few days - there's 8 more polishes, and among them is an awesome one coat black cream! <3 Keep an eye out for June 22nd if you've added some of these (or all??) to your wishlist!
