Tonic Polish - Bright Shimmers
Welcome, welcome!! If you haven't heard yet, Tonic Polish is gearing up for a big release of brand new colors on June 3rd. I am breaking up the posts covering all of them, check out the first 3 - bright shimmers!
*Polishes provided as press samples for review*
Lizard Dance - yellow-olive with a bright multichrome red/orange to gold shifting shimmer flame; I applied 2 coats & top coat for my swatchesI'd say this color definitely has it's niche fan base - the mustard and olive are strong with this one, and I think it's a safe contender for the "ugly" color category! I'm never completely comfortable calling a color that, but that category is out there! The olive tones are really strong in the bottle and the polish just seems to glow reddish orange from within, a pretty cool effect!
The yellow tone with the shimmer is much stronger on the nail, but the olive isn't completely gone and you'll be twirling your hands at all angles to keep getting glimpses of all that's lurking there!
I was going to say that this one surprised me with how much I liked it, but then I swatched the other two polishes in the shimmer category and felt the same thing about them! I think it's safe to conclude that despite these not being the latest and neatest multichrome magnetics, they can definitely stand their own ground and be enjoyed in the shimmer category :)
Hot to Trot - jelly neon fuschia with blue aurora pigment shimmer
My oh my, is this bright or what!! New summer pedi color for me for sure! I used just 2 coats for my swatches but because I apply a bit thicker coats, I could almost get away with 1. That's probably due to my nude colored overlays, but I was still pleasantly surprised at the amount of pigmentation this jelly has!
The blue aurora shimmer is definitely a nice touch here, and if you want to enhance that a bit, I suggest layering Tonic's Uba Tuba on top!
This is such a bright and happy color! A definite winner for the summer and a pleasure to wear. I ended up putting this one on last before going to bed, and kept nagging hubby to look at my nails as they stood out so much against my pale skin! I asked if he had any comments on the color that I can share on the blog, he just rolled his eyes and said they're like Barbie's pink Porsche!
Indiglo - a dark purple with glowing blue aurora pigment shimmer
Again with 2 coats for coverage & top coat for swatches - it reminded me of grape jelly when I was applying it and the nails were scrumptious looking, lol
I'll repeat what I said about the blue aurora shimmer in Hot to Trot - if you have Uba Tuba, put it on! See pic below - bits of flake and a lot more shimmer, the polish looks a tad blue-er over all with the topper
I liked Indiglo so much that I put two different toppers on it and ended up going for stamped nail art too! That'll be for a later post, but toppers I will show here :)
This gorgeous flakie topper is not a Tonic, it's Nfu Oh 50, which I once again have on loan from a dear friend. I used it before with Light of Lyra and borrowed the topper to see if I had anything in my stash that's close to it because by the time I admitted I need my own bottle, the only place I could find it online is long since sold out.
Alrightly, that's it for today - mark your calendars for the release on June 3rd, 2 PM Central! The polishes should stay in stock till end of July!
