The Digit-al Dozen Does Mythical Creatures - The Kraken
It's day 2 and I'm sticking to the water theme - say hello to a popular "figure" from many myths and legends, the Kraken!
Gotta show off the base polish of course, and this is yet another Anchor & Heart Lacquer color that I've been itching to try, so feast your eyes!
You Are My Home - emerald green base that shifts turquoise/blue/fuchsia, at some angles you can catch a silver shift; scattered holo pigment, green iridescent micro glitter, and silver holo micro glitter
I only needed 2 coats for complete opacity, top coat as usual. Great application and it's so mesmerizing!!
You can see the blue shift at the cuticle area and at the end of the bottle. This honestly is such a shifter that I couldn't even capture all it's moods!
The green can be so intense sometimes! I definitely had to double check with the bottle a few times to make sure I applied the right one. Sitting innocently on my desk, the bottle looked like a silver with pale purple shimmer and green at the edges, but not so on the nail, the green is super obvious and is front and center.
When I was first applying it, the combination of my room lights made the hidden silver shift stand out, but for the life of me I couldn't catch that angle on camera to show it. So we'll call this a sleeper, and know that if you own this polish or plan to purchase, it has surprises in store for you!
And with that, we come to the art. I know this is an obvious and a famous one, but I like it and wanted my own go at it!
It's actually a pretty busy stamping job once you break it down. And I messed up my layers so the tentacles on the pointer and middle finger are 5 stamps...but don't be like me, that's just not necessary lol
Here's what you can actually see of the end result:
EdK silver stamping polish Kylo Ren & shell pattern from Lina Nail Art Supplies plate Born to Sail 01
EdK peachy/pink stamping polish Princess Leia - I used this both to stamp and to fill in the octopus.
Tentacles are from plate Bundle Monster BM-401, octopus from plate 28 from Creative Shop and the text "Kraken" from plate 51
I'd better show what messed me up, cuz I picture's worth 1000 words! Therefore, my blog posts are massive since I use so many pics, right? Hahah I don't think that adds anything to the word count
I wanted to do double stamping with black and Princess Leia, but she's a tricky one and ended up giving this sheer golden toned look, and it obviously didn't match up with the octo, so I stamped on top of it 2 more times, the color payoff improved, but clear stamper or no, 3 identical stamps are going to wash out the detail. So I gave up on that order of colors and stamped black on top and proclaimed that is is done!
Be sure to take a look at the link up to see what creatures are lurking there!
