Tonic Polish - Necromantic
Welcome to the first of a handful of blog posts showcasing brand new colors that will be released on 2/11/18 from Tonic Polish!! Posts will be picture heavy so lets dive in and let the photos do the talking!
*Polish provided as press sample for review*
I always like to start off with bottle shots, as I feel that they show off the true potential of what's inside, and my swatches don't always capture every element, so here they are..Necromantic - this is a "unicorn pee" (UP) polish in a black base, with red/orange-gold-green iridescent flakes
As the bottle shows the UP pigment, you can see the full range of colors that it contains, and I've gotta say, that green on the edges is so so gorgeous!
This was the first polish I picked to swatch, thinking "oh it's a black with shimmer, should be a good one to start with before I get to the new UP colors as they're always harder for me" and then struggled so hard with the pictures showing what my eyes were seeing! I finally went to read up on Lindsey's color description and it all made sense...this is a unicorn pee polish too...so I decided to throw in some pics I snapped with my phone as well as the camera to try and show it off better and really hope I succeed!
The pigment particles usually looked red to me irl, but the edges show the gold/green shift. I applied two coats for my swatches + top coat. On the first coat I went really thin and thought it would need 3 to be fully opaque, but I tried a really thick second coat and it was enough to get an opaque look.
Unicorn pee is pretty awesome by itself, but adding flakies to this polish makes it extra awesome and I love it!
At some point during the picture taking phase I saw a matte top coat sitting on my desk and eagerly applied it to see what would happen..I was secretly hoping it would eliminate the glare from my pics
I ended up really liking this version. It was obviously black. But at the same time, it obviously has other elements going on that set it apart from a regular black mani
For the art piece I wanted something gold, and used gold foil, Moyra's Black Foil Stamping Polish, and the rose image from BornPretty Store plate BPL-024.
Check back for blog posts this week as I show more of the upcoming colors! This will be available on 2/11/18 from the Tonic website, at 2 pm CST.
