Swatch & Review: Tonic Polish - Double Multichrome Magnetics

Tonic Polish - Drag Race & Diva Royale

Tonic Polish Diva Royale & Drag Race
Big launch coming tomorrow from Tonic Polish! 4/8 at 2 PM CST - I'll be showing off  quite a few polishes today so hang around!
*Polishes provided as press sample for review*
There's a lot of exciting stuff cooking, and these two are in the "double multichrome magnetic" category - it's kind of a new label. However, what this means is that the polishes have multichrome pigment, something we're familiar with already - and there's also a magnetic multichrome pigment that comes to play with the help of a magnet! These two originally had a sister, but she won't be joining them for this release due to some issues with getting the pigment - keep an eye out in the future to snag her!
Tonic Polish Diva Royale
Diva Royale - teal/blue/purple shifting multichrome with pink/peach/yellow magnetic pigment. This color is along the lines of gunmetal on first coat - I noted that at first I thought it was a gunmetal-plummy with peach shimmer, and then realized it's one of the magnetics. For my application I did 3 coats - magnet on the third. But that's only because I wanted a picture of how it would look if worn non-magnetized. The proper application would just be 2 coats, magnet applied to the second one because that's all you need for full coverage

With the magnet doing its thing, you can see the peachy/yellow effect on the nails (not much pink in my pics) and the base color became a blue/teal

I don't even know what happened with the magnet effect - but I didn't use the one sold with the earlier Tonic magnetics. I had a little round magnet, about the size of a nickel - and I applied it to the nails in a sort of sideways halfmoon shape. It was definitely neat irl, a sort of lopsided french tip, with the base being a deep dark blue and the tips a peachy shimmer. But no matter how I tried to pose my hands under the camera, I couldn't capture it :(

This is about the closest I could get to showing the effect. But as you see from the other pics, the shimmers are everywhere, doing their magic.

Next up, we have a purple number..
Tonic Polish Drag Race
Drag Race - green/blue/purple shifting multichrome with pink/gold/green multichrome magnetic pigment. Pic up top is just 2 medium coats - it's pretty enough to be worn in this state too. During the previews in the fangroup, the maker mentioned that there are like "ugly ducklings" - you need the magnetic effect to make them really shine

I kind of liked this one "normal" quite a lot, so you get a few more pics!

And now for the effect!
Tonic Polish Drag Race
Ta-da! This one is subtler but still visible, the magnetic multichrome lines were more pink/gold for me

And that is the end for these two! I've got *le gasp* 6 more to share today! Bottom line is, however you end up magnetizing these, you're gonna have a magical and unique manicure so got for it and experiment!
